Welcome from the Division Head
Welcome to McMaster University’s Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology. Over forty years, what began as a small group of physicians and staff has evolved to become an internationally respected program for evidence-based medicine and outstanding care. In recent years our NICU has experienced unprecedented growth and efficiencies and manages a greater volume of high acuity patients than ever before. Coupled with significant improvements in long-term outcomes and advancements in neonatal research, the Division has earned a reputation as a centre for excellence. Thanks to our innovative leaders, including Program Director, Dr. Muzafar Gani Abdul Wahab, trainees in the Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program gain a foundation in the clinical and investigative skills needed to become outstanding physicians, educators and researchers – ultimately contributing to the continued success of our program and the advancement of neonatology in the broader medical community.
