Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Program Residency Program Subcommittee – Recruitment Terms of Reference

  1. To assist the Program Director in recruitment process of fellows to the Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Program.
  1. To develop recruitment strategies and recommend tools of assessment for recruitment may be deemed appropriate and desirable to meet the requirements for the program.
  1. To report to the Residency Program Committee at its regular meetings a summary of its deliberations and discussions, and to bring forward any recommendations requiring the input or approval of the Residency Program Committee.
  1. The Recruitment Subcommittee will be chaired by the Program Director with a term of three years. The Sub Committee Chair will form the members of the Subcommittee, which include at least 3 faculty members and a resident with a term of one year.
  1. The Recruitment Subcommittee will meet quarterly, with special meetings at the call of the Chair. Reports will be given to the Residency Program Committee at the next regular meeting of the RPC.

Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Program Residency Program Subcommittee – Curriculum Terms of Reference

  1. Monitoring ongoing compliance with, and to advise the Residency Program Committee regarding any such initiatives as may be required or advantageous to maintaining ongoing compliance with the General Standards of Accreditation for Residency Programs, in particular, Standard B.2 Goals and Objectives, and Standard B4 Resources.
  1. To implement and monitor all aspects of the residency program pertaining to the Objectives of Training and Specialty Training Requirements in Pediatrics.
  1. To develop curriculum map and amend as necessary the mandatory didactic teaching and assessment sessions required in the program, eg. Academic half-day, Simulation, SOE, written test, procedure or skill stations / workshop.
  1. To monitor and review resident attendance at mandatory teaching sessions and to recommend to the Residency Program Committee adjustments as necessary.
  1. To review, on an annual basis at least, the rotation evaluations of each of the training components of the program.
  1. To develop ‘new’ curricular initiatives as may be deemed important or advantageous to the program.
  1. To implement, monitor and evaluate any such curricular initiatives as may be recommended or approved by the Residency Program Committee.
  1. To report to the Residency Program Committee at its regular meetings a summary of its deliberations and discussions, and to bring forward any recommendations requiring the input or approval of the Residency Program Committee.

  1. The Curriculum Sub Committee Chair meets the Program Director regularly to discuss ongoing issues.
  1. The Curriculum Sub Committee will meet quarterly or sooner with special meetings at the call of the Chair.
  1. The Curriculum Sub Committee Chair submits quarterly report to the Residency Program Committee at the next regular meeting of the RPC.

Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Program Residency Program Subcommittee – Evaluation Terms of Reference

  1. Monitoring ongoing compliance with, and to advise the Residency Program Committee regarding any such initiatives as may be required or advantageous to maintaining ongoing compliance with the General Standards of Accreditation for Residency Programs, in particular, Standard B6. Evaluation of Resident Performance.
  1. To review, on a regular basis (every 3 months) the rotation specific ITERs of each resident in the program, for the purposes of evaluating the progress of each resident in achieving completion of the required objectives of the Program.
  1. To review the overall performance of residents in the program on an annual basis for the purposes of recommending to the Residency Program Committee for promotion of the resident to the subsequent year of the program.
  1. To review and approve the FITER of each resident completing the program as completed by the Program Director.
  1. To assist the Program Director in the design and implementation of any remedial training required by any resident in the program.
  1. To monitor the compliance of faculty and residents with the required completion of evaluation, in a timely fashion, with all evaluations policies as established by the Residency Program Committee.
  1. To review, on a regular basis, the teaching evaluations of faculty involved in the Residency Program and to make any necessary recommendations to the Chair of the Division.
  1. To develop and recommend tools of evaluation as may be deemed appropriate and desirable to meet the requirements for evaluation.
  1. To report to the Residency Program Committee at its regular meetings a summary of its deliberations and discussions, and to bring forward any recommendations requiring the input or approval of the Residency Program Committee.

  1. The Evaluation Sub Committee Chair meets the Program Director regularly on the third week of every month to discuss ongoing issues
  1. The Evaluation Subcommittee will meet quarterly or sooner with special meetings at the call of the Chair.
  1. The Program Assistant will be attending all the Evaluation Subcommittee Meetings and minutes will be prepared for submission to the Residency Program Committee
  1. The Evaluation Committee Chair submits quarterly report to the Residency Program Committee at the next regular meeting of the RPC.
  1. In regards to appeal process, the Evaluation Committee Chair will be at level 1 representing the Residency Program Committee, when there is no agreement arrived after the program director / supervisor / student meetings and appeal process was initiated by the student. The recommendations / remediation plans by the evaluation committee will be submitted to the Residency Program Committee for its approval. RPC would review, modify and approve the report for submission to PGME.

Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Program Residency Program Subcommittee – Research Terms of Reference

  1. To develop and implement a program to support the residents in their achievement of standards related to scholarly activity and research.
  1. To recommend criteria to determine success at achieving the required scholarly activity and research objectives.
  1. To facilitate a liaison between the residency program and the research community within the Department and University by increasing the awareness of research opportunities and mentorship for residents.
  1. To assist residents in the application for funding of research projects.
  1. To report to the Residency Program Committee at its regular meetings a summary of its deliberations and discussions, and to bring forward any recommendations requiring the input or approval of the Residency Program Committee.
  1. Sub Committee Chair nominated by the Residency Program Committee will chair the Research Subcommittee with a term of three years. The Sub Committee Chair will form their members, which include at least 3 faculty members and a resident with a term of one year.
  1. The Research Sub Committee Chair meets the Program Director regularly to discuss ongoing issues.
  1. The Research Sub Committee will meet quarterly or sooner with special meetings at the call of the Chair.
  1. The Research Sub Committee Chair submits quarterly report to the Residency Program Committee at the next regular meeting of the RPC.
